Book design project showing an updated concept of the beloved cult-classic text that accompanies the 1968 film.

Objective
The objective of the project was to give the series a fresh and new design.
Etchings were chosen for the hardcovers of the book to reflect the passage of time and that the monolith, a strange and mysterious power; influences + evolves mankind and ushers us into the future - and beyond.
The Dust Jackets are reflective of both the monolith and futurism by incorporating flat, linear elements and a modern type set.
Design
The case of the book set is a flat, matte black - reminiscent of the infamous "Monolith" of the 2001 story. (pictured below)
